The Ripley County Sheriff Department is comprised of dedicated Deputies and Jail Officers who are proud to protect and serve the citizens of the County. On a monthly bases, the Ripley County Deputies and Jail Officers traveled a total of 1,900 miles transporting prisoners to court appointments, doctor’s and dentist appointments and extraditions. The Ripley County Sheriff Department receives approximately 51 criminal cases a month. Out of these 51 criminal cases, 32 were either closed or resulted in arrest and 19 cases remain open, under investigation. The Ripley County Sheriff process warrants and civil papers such as subpoenas, summons, notifications of Sheriff’s Sales, eviction notices, small claim actions, complaints and tax warrants. Applications for Hand gun permits must be given to the County Sheriff. More than 114 hours are worked a month by the Ripley County Reserve Officers. An average of 11.5 prisoners per day are on house arrest a month. Accident reports may be obtained by mailing a money order with the accident information or by coming to the Sheriff’s Department during business hours.
